Activision Cracks Down on Call of Duty Leaksters and Data Hunters

Activision is taking a firm stance against leaks related to the Call of Duty franchise. After numerous leaks about the game’s past and future, a prominent insider confirmed earlier this month that they would be stepping away. Following this, another dataminer, RealityUK, announced that they, too, would no longer share any leaked information.

RealityUK made this announcement in response to a tweet from fellow leaker TheGhostofHope, who mentioned being legally instructed by Activision to stop sharing confidential information about the game. RealityUK stated, “I am also ceasing all datamining and leaking permanently. It’s over. No leaking any Activision titles in any capacity.”

Although it wasn’t explicitly mentioned, it seems that Activision reached out to RealityUK, requesting the same cessation of leaks.

When TheGhostofHope initially revealed the news, the official Call of Duty page commented, saying that “even when leaks are wrong, they still hurt the people building the game and mess with player expectations.”

For years, the Call of Duty series has had its share of leaks, making this sudden and strict change in approach noteworthy. Many are curious about why Activision has decided to clamp down now, and it will be interesting to see how far their influence extends in the future.
