Srinagar: Criticism Surrounds PM Modi’s Visit to Israel

PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti has voiced strong criticism regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent trip to Israel. She believes that this visit contradicts India’s ongoing commitment to a fair and ethical stance in global matters. Speaking to the press, Mehbooba noted that many countries have distanced themselves from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, especially following serious charges from the International Criminal Court against him. She called for the Prime Minister to reconsider his associations with such leaders.

Additionally, CPM MLA M.Y. Tarigami released a statement on social media, pointing out that the visit coincides with a time when Israel is reportedly harming many innocent people.

Among the governing National Conference members, Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi was the only one to publicly oppose the visit. He responded to Modi’s remarks about carrying the “greetings of 1.4 billion Indians” by declaring, “No, not my greetings. Give them my curses for their illegal occupation of Palestine and the genocide in Gaza.”
