Mumbai: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat shared his thoughts on India’s spiritual strength at an event on Sunday, emphasizing that as long as dharma guides the nation, India will continue to be a “Vishwaguru,” or a leader in spiritual wisdom. He pointed out that this unique knowledge is not found in the same way anywhere else in the world.
According to Bhagwat, India is blessed with a deep spiritual heritage, stemming from the teachings of its ancestors and ongoing guidance from saints and sages. He said that many countries lack this spiritual insight, which is part of India’s rich legacy.
He illustrated his point by saying that everyone, whether it be politicians or ordinary citizens, is driven by a single force—dharma. He likened dharma to the driver of a vehicle, suggesting that when guided by dharma, one can avoid misfortune. “Dharma governs the entire universe. When creation unfolded, the rules came into being along with it, becoming dharma,” he explained.
Bhagwat also clarified that dharma goes beyond just religion. He noted that every entity in nature has its specific duty and discipline. While a state may be secular, he argued that every person and every creation inherently possesses dharma. For example, water flows according to its dharma, and fire burns by its nature. He reminded the audience that the wisdom of our ancestors was gained through spiritual exploration and effort, and that even someone living in modest conditions carries the essence of dharma within them.
