Dick Van Dyke Celebrates 100 Years of Life
This year, the legendary Dick Van Dyke turns 100, and he’s feeling great! In a recent interview, he shared that he attributes his good health to a positive attitude and a lack of pain or discomfort.
Van Dyke believes that holding onto anger and hatred can harm a person inside. He pointed out that many people ask him about his secret to longevity. “I’ve always thought that anger is something that eats up a person’s insides,” he explained. The star describes himself as “rather lazy,” and he doesn’t let negative feelings take over his life.
In the interview, he mentioned, “Sometimes I have more energy than others, but I never wake up in a bad mood.” He acknowledged that there are things and people he doesn’t like, but he has never allowed himself to feel deep hatred, unlike his father, who struggled with anger and passed away at the age of 73.
Van Dyke’s calm demeanor has helped him maintain his health. Research suggests that emotional well-being can significantly impact long-term health. Studies show that anger can increase inflammation in the body, which can lead to various illnesses.
He also noted that emotional patterns, like hostility or irritation, put stress on the body and can speed up the aging process. Reflecting on his outlook, he believes that some people are born with a more positive perspective than others, which can make a big difference in how they face life’s challenges.
Van Dyke shared, “I just think I was born with a brighter outlook.” He feels fortunate that he doesn’t fear death, stating, “I’ve had such a wonderfully full and exciting life… I can’t complain.”
His 100th birthday is on December 13, and he continues to inspire many with his zest for life and positive attitude.
