External Affairs Ministry Celebrates Gita Mahotsav Worldwide

The External Affairs Ministry has been instrumental in spreading the message of the Bhagavad Gita around the globe. More than 50 Indian missions and posts are currently hosting various events and exhibitions to mark the 10th International Gita Mahotsav, which started on November 15, 2025, according to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

Minister Jaishankar stated that the ministry has teamed up with Indian missions abroad to invite prominent scholars from different countries to join in on the celebrations. This effort not only highlights the Gita’s teachings but also presents a range of perspectives on its spiritual significance. Over 25 translated versions of the Bhagavad Gita are being showcased, demonstrating its influence across different cultures and languages.

In a related event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Kurukshetra on Tuesday to inaugurate the ‘Panchjanya,’ a monument honoring the sacred conch of Lord Krishna. The Prime Minister will also visit the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an interactive center that highlights key moments from the Mahabharata, emphasizing its cultural and spiritual importance.

During his visit, Modi will take part in a special program to mark the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru. He will also perform prayers and rituals at Brahma Sarovar, a site revered as one of India’s most sacred pilgrimage destinations, linked to the divine revelation of the Bhagavad Gita.

The celebrations in Kurukshetra, which run from November 15 to December 5, are a significant part of the ongoing Gita Mahotsav. Minister Jaishankar offered his warm wishes to everyone who honors the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. He emphasized its role as a universal guide that transcends religious boundaries, providing wisdom and inner strength through challenging times.

Through various exhibitions, discussions, and cultural events, the ministry aims to pay tribute to the teachings of Lord Krishna and their positive impact. This worldwide celebration is not just a cultural event but a powerful reminder of shared values, promoting a life of courage and compassion. By fostering community connections across borders, the ministry seeks to embody the Gita’s message of harmony and resilience.
