Indian and Jewish Communities Strengthen Ties During Minister’s Visit to Israel

Tel Aviv, Israel – November 23, 2025: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal emphasized the importance of the Indian community in Israel and the Jewish community in India in fostering strong connections between the two nations. Speaking at a special gathering in Jerusalem, Goyal expressed gratitude to the Indian diaspora for their efforts in maintaining these ties.

Goyal, during his remarks shared on social media, said, “It was a pleasure to address the vibrant Indian community in Israel. We discussed the strong bond between our nations and recognized how both communities play a key role in enhancing our people-to-people connections.”

He encouraged the diaspora to contribute to India’s vision of “Viksit Bharat,” as both India and Israel explore opportunities for collaboration.

Israel’s Minister of Economy, Nir Barkat, also participated in the event, calling it a “historic day for Israel’s economy.” Barkat highlighted Goyal’s visit as the first by an Indian Minister of Economy and pointed out the substantial market opportunities that come from India’s position as the world’s fifth-largest economy.

Goyal described his three-day visit to Israel as highly successful, stating that both industry leaders and government officials showed strong enthusiasm for deepening the partnership with India. He revealed that the two countries have finalized and signed Terms of Reference, which will kickstart formal negotiations for a free trade agreement.

“Many discussions were held with technology companies during my visit, and there’s a lot of excitement for strengthening our relations further,” Goyal commented.

Piyush Goyal’s visit, which took place from November 20-22, came at the invitation of Minister Nir Barkat, marking a significant step in cementing the relationship between India and Israel.
