Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon Result in Casualties

BEIRUT: On Saturday, three individuals lost their lives, and several others were injured due to Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, as reported by the Lebanese health ministry. One of these strikes targeted alleged arms smugglers linked to Hezbollah.

The National News Agency of Lebanon detailed that two brothers from Shebaa fell victim while driving on a road near Mount Hermon in southeastern Lebanon. Their vehicle caught fire, leading to their tragic deaths.

The Israeli military confirmed that a strike took place near Shebaa, killing two smugglers associated with the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, a group connected to Hezbollah. They stated that these individuals were involved in smuggling weapons for Hezbollah and had violated agreements in place to maintain peace between Israel and Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) emphasized their commitment to eliminating any threats to Israel’s security.

Lebanon’s health ministry also reported another airstrike in the southern village of Baraashit, where one person was killed and four others were injured. Earlier that same day, an Israeli strike near a hospital in Bint Jbeil injured seven people, according to reports.

These airstrikes have raised alarms, drawing attention from the European Union, which expressed concern over the ongoing violence despite a nearly year-long ceasefire. Anouar El Anouni, spokesperson for the European Commission on foreign affairs, urged all parties to prioritize maintaining the ceasefire and the progress achieved thus far.
