India Secures Big Win Over Australia in T20I Series
On November 6, India celebrated a significant victory in the fourth T20I against Australia, winning by 48 runs. This match, held on a tricky pitch at the Gold Coast, showcased India’s bowling skills, particularly from their spinners, who managed to bowl Australia out for just 119. With this win, India has taken an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
As they head to the final match in Brisbane on Saturday, India aims to continue their impressive streak of 17 years without losing a T20I series in Australia.
India initially posted a total of 167 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Though it seemed like a modest score, it actually turned out to be the highest ever in a T20I at Carrara, marking a first for any score above 150 at the venue.
The bowling performance was led by Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Washington Sundar, who effectively kept the Australian batsmen at bay. Suryakumar Yadav utilized the pitch conditions well, employing spin bowling to create pressure. Medium-pacer Shivam Dube’s strategy paid off as he clinched two critical wickets, including that of captain Mitchell Marsh and hard-hitter Tim David.
Axar Patel stood out with both bat and ball. He played a vital knock of 21 runs from 11 balls and took two wickets, earning him the Player of the Match title for his all-round performance.
While Shubman Gill top-scored with 47 runs off 39 balls, questions were raised about his inability to convert starts into bigger scores. Despite showing promise with several boundaries early on, his performance slowed down after the powerplay, and he eventually fell to a clever delivery from Nathan Ellis.
India’s strategy included promoting Shivam Dube to the No. 3 position, but he managed only 22 runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav faced pressure to score quickly, contributing 20 runs off just 10 balls before getting out.
As India prepares for the series finale, they look to wrap up an impressive T20I series against Australia.
