Nothing Launches New Ear (3) Wireless Earbuds
On September 18, Nothing unveiled its latest wireless earbuds, the Ear (3). This model comes with a range of exciting features, maintaining the brand’s signature clear design while adding metal accents for a fresh look.
One standout feature is the Super Mic, which uses a dual-microphone system equipped with advanced technology to filter out background noise by up to 95 dB. Users can easily engage this feature with the TALK button on the charging case, making it convenient for quick chats or longer conversations. The earbuds are also fitted with three directional microphones and a unique bone-conduction unit, which captures sound more accurately by detecting vibrations from the jaw and ear.
To enhance voice clarity in different environments, the earbuds include an AI-driven noise cancellation system. It’s trained on over 20 million hours of audio, actively cutting wind noise by more than 25 dB. The system also adapts in real-time to surrounding sounds, adjusting every 600 milliseconds, while checking for potential sound leaks every 1.8 seconds.
On the audio side of things, the Ear (3) features a new 12mm dynamic driver that has a larger surface area. This upgrade enhances treble by up to 4 dB and improves bass response by 4-6 dB, resulting in a richer listening experience.
Additionally, the transparent charging case now boasts a new Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) antenna that is just 0.35 mm thick. This advancement increases power output by 15% and enhances signal sensitivity by 20%. The case is made from fully recycled aluminum and goes through 27 precision manufacturing steps.
Performance Highlights
Each earbud comes with a 55 mAh battery, providing up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge, and a total of 38 hours when using the charging case. A quick 10-minute charge via USB-C can offer an extra 10 hours of listening time, and the case supports wireless charging as well.
The Ear (3) also supports Bluetooth 5.4 and LDAC technology for high-quality audio streaming. It ensures smooth connections with devices running Windows, iOS, and Android, thanks to features like Microsoft’s Swift Pair and Google’s Fast Pair. For gamers, a low-latency mode reduces delay to under 120 milliseconds.
Both the earbuds and the charging case hold an IP54 rating, making them resistant to sweat, dust, and light rain.
The Nothing Ear (3) will be available in two colors, priced at $179 (approximately Rs 15,804). The company has also confirmed that they will be launching in India soon.
