IDF’s Airstrike in Yemen Targets Houthi Leaders
On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had successfully carried out an airstrike in Yemen, resulting in the death of Houthi Prime Minister Ahmed Al-Rahawi and several other high-ranking officials. This operation was executed in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen.
The IDF confirmed via social media that the airstrike targeted a location where Houthi leaders were involved in planning military actions against Israel. They emphasized that the IDF would remain vigilant in its efforts to counter threats to Israeli citizens.
The Israeli Air Force conducted the strike on Thursday, utilizing intelligence gathered by the IDF. The military stated that the operation was completed swiftly, taking only a few hours from intelligence gathering to execution. The Houthi movement later acknowledged Al-Rahawi’s death.
This was the second strike against Houthi targets in Yemen within a week, following an earlier strike on Sunday in response to missile attacks directed at Israel by the Houthis. Reports indicated that the previous strike caused multiple casualties, including six deaths and 86 injuries.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who monitored the airstrike, issued a stern warning to the Houthis, stressing that any aggression against Israel would not go unpunished.
The IDF has accused the Houthis of acting under Iranian influence, posing a threat to both Israel and regional stability. The latest strikes were reportedly initiated after Israel intercepted two drones launched from Yemen and coincided with a speech by the Houthi leader.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Houthis has persisted for almost two years, escalating after recent violence from Hamas. The Houthis have pledged to continue their attacks in solidarity with Hamas.
