Prime Video Set to Release ‘Songs of Paradise,’ a Biopic Celebrating Kashmir’s Trailblazing Playback Singer Raj Begum

Prime Video has exciting news! They have announced the release date for their inspiring film, Songs of Paradise. This film tells the incredible story of Raj Begum, a Padma Shri award winner and the first major playback singer from Kashmir. It’s a tale that combines music, resilience, and the journey of a woman who has greatly influenced the music scene and empowered women in her community.

Directed and co-written by Danish Renzu, Songs of Paradise features a talented cast including Saba Azad and Soni Razdan, who portray Noor Begum in different stages of her life, alongside Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chaddha, Taaruk Raina, and Lillete Dubey. This captivating film highlights themes of courage and identity amidst the stunning backdrop of Kashmir. It is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on August 29, reaching audiences not just in India but also in over 200 countries worldwide.

Manish Menghani, the head of content licensing at Prime Video India, shared his thoughts, stating, “At Prime Video, we aim to tell stories that entertain and inspire. Songs of Paradise gives a unique, emotional look at Kashmir’s musical heritage and celebrates an inspiring true story featuring strong performances. We are thrilled to bring this story to viewers globally in partnership with Excel Entertainment.”

Ritesh Sidhwani from Excel Entertainment expressed his excitement about the film, saying, “This is a heartfelt story about a champion from the culturally rich land of Kashmir, filled with emotion and hope. We are proud to partner with Danish Renzu and Prime Video to share Noor Begum’s inspiring journey with the world.”

Danish Renzu added, “Songs of Paradise honors Raj Begum, a pioneer for women in music. It tells a touching story of her legacy during a time when women faced many societal limitations. Saba Azad and Soni Razdan beautifully portray her life, which has been long deserving of recognition.”

This uplifting film promises to be a significant tribute to the art and spirit of Kashmir, and audiences will be able to experience it soon.
