India A Women bounced back impressively after a tough 3-0 loss in the T20 series against Australia A Women. In the first One-Day match at Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane, India A claimed victory by three wickets, successfully chasing down a target of 215 runs in just 42 overs.

Australia A won the toss and chose to bat first, putting up a total of 214 runs in 47.5 overs. Anika Learoyd was the standout performer, scoring a solid 92 runs off 90 balls, while Rachel Trenaman contributed a respectable 51 runs. On the bowling front, India A’s Radha Yadav took three wickets for 45 runs, and Minnu Mani added two more to the tally, both keeping up the pressure on the Australian batsmen.

Early breakthroughs from Titas Sadhu and Shabnam Shakil saw Australia A struggling at 50 for three. However, Learoyd’s resilience helped them post a decent total.

In response, India A got off to a strong start, with Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma (who scored 36 runs) putting together a quick partnership of 77 runs. Although they faced a brief setback, slipping from 140 for two to 166 for five, Raghvi Bist played a crucial role, remaining calm to score 25 not out and guiding the team to victory.

Bist’s innings was supported by vital runs from captain Radha Yadav (19 off 28) and an important contribution from extras (32 runs), helping India A win with eight overs remaining.

While Learoyd’s performance shone bright for Australia A, a lack of partnerships hindered their progress. India A’s bowlers set the tone early, while their batters handled the chase maturely.

Looking ahead, India A will aim to build on this victory as they prepare for the second One-Day match on August 15.

Brief Scores:

Australia A Women: 214 in 47.5 overs – Anika Learoyd (92), Rachel Trenaman (51); Radha Yadav (3/45), Minnu Mani (2/38)

India A Women: 215/7 in 42 overs – Yastika Bhatia (59), Shafali Verma (36); Ella Hayward (2/46)

Result: India A won by 3 wickets.
