Ivy Entertainment, based in Delhi, has taken legal action against People Media Factory Pvt Ltd (PMF) from Hyderabad over alleged breaches of contract regarding the highly anticipated film, The Raja Saab. The company has approached the Delhi High Court seeking a permanent injunction.
Ivy Entertainment claims that PMF has failed to meet several crucial obligations. These include not completing and releasing the film as scheduled, providing monthly updates on production, revealing how funds were being spent, and delaying the release without proper reasons. Due to these alleged violations, Ivy is seeking a refund of ₹218 crores, along with 18% interest.
The film rights agreements between Ivy and PMF date back to January and March 2023, where Ivy acquired rights for both theatrical and non-theatrical distribution, along with promises for returns on its investment.
Ivy’s petition also calls out PMF’s directors, Vishwa Prasad Tumbalam Gooty and Subramanya Vivekananda Kuchibhotla, as well as certain post-production vendors, asking the court to prevent them from making any decisions about the film without Ivy’s approval.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Ivy Entertainment has indicated its intention to complete and release the film itself to protect its investment.
Originally slated for a December 5, 2025 release, The Raja Saab now has a new proposed release date in January 2026. Comments from producer T G Vishwa Prasad suggest that there’s a push to time the release for Sankranthi in 2026, with hints about a specific date of January 9 being discussed.
In the midst of these developments, another film, Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, is also set to hit theaters on December 5. However, there are discussions about possibly adjusting its release date depending on market conditions.
With the production of The Raja Saab expected to finish by October, all eyes are on how the situation with Ivy and PMF unfolds in the coming weeks.
