Ram Madhav Highlights Tech’s Role in India’s Future Growth
In a recent event in Lucknow, Ram Madhav, a senior leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emphasized the crucial role of technology and innovation in India’s journey towards becoming a global power by the year 2047. He made these remarks during the launch of his new book, “The New World: 21st-Century Global Order and India.”
Madhav pointed out the changing dynamics of the global landscape, including the challenges related to demographics and climate change. He highlighted India’s emerging influence in this new world order. The event saw the book unveiled by Professor MP Gupta, the director of IIM Lucknow.
Addressing the audience, Madhav remarked on the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and how technology is reshaping societies. He raised a concern, asking whether India is keeping up with these technological changes. He stressed the necessity for increased research and development (R&D) efforts within the country.
He elaborated on the importance of technology through the lens of the recent conflicts between India and Pakistan, noting that modern warfare is increasingly conducted from a distance, primarily driven by technology. “For India to assume the role of a global leader, we must enhance our R&D initiatives,” he stated, urging collaboration between the government and private sectors for greater innovation.
Madhav expressed disappointment that while many companies have significant market capitalizations, their investments in R&D remain minimal. He pointed to the trade tariffs imposed by former US President Donald Trump, suggesting that this style of nationalism could persist and impact global relations.
He also touched on Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, saying it indicates a trend where nations prioritize their own interests. Madhav highlighted how this shift is already noticeable, with certain European nations choosing to reject EU mandates regarding immigration.
Additionally, Madhav praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for initiatives aimed at upgrading Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in the state in collaboration with the Tata Group. This effort, he believes, aligns with the broader goal of enhancing skill development in India.
