In an unexpected twist, Rajinikanth’s film Coolie is making significant waves at the US box office, outpacing the much-anticipated War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. With just nine days until its release, Coolie has secured advance ticket sales worth $205,000 in North America. In contrast, War 2 has raked in an impressive $1.2 million.
Despite the strong presence of a Telugu audience in North America, Coolie, a Tamil movie, is leading in ticket sales. This trend is consistent across various regions, including Australia and New Zealand, where Coolie remains ahead of War 2 in pre-sales.
This surprising outcome is noteworthy since War 2 boasts a larger budget and comes from a well-established franchise. More ticket outlets are expected to open for both films; however, at this early stage, Coolie holds a significant advantage. Interestingly, the Telugu version of Coolie has outperformed the Telugu version of War 2 in the US, generating $200,000 compared to War 2‘s $155,000.
The Hindi version of War 2 has only managed to earn $50,000, falling behind earlier hits like Pathaan, Jawan, and Animal. With the next nine days being critical, War 2 needs to accelerate its momentum to make a mark in international markets.
