Tech Companies Partner with Trump Administration for Healthcare Initiative
In a new effort to improve healthcare access, major technology companies are joining forces with the Trump administration. Their goal is to develop digital tools that will help older Americans and people with disabilities better navigate their health care data within the Medicare program.
President Trump is expected to announce this initiative on Wednesday at the White House. The plan aims to create a smoother system for sharing patient information, according to sources who spoke with CBS News.
Companies like Oracle and Microsoft are among those set to formally commit to this project, as reported by various sources.
Back in May, the Trump administration requested feedback from the public on modernizing the digital services offered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
This announcement coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Social Security Amendments, which were signed into law on July 30, 1965, leading to the establishment of Medicare and Medicaid.
Seema Verma, who previously led the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services during Trump’s first term, has been invited to the White House for the announcement. She now works as the head of Oracle’s Health and Life Sciences division.
As of now, White House spokespeople have not provided any comments on the upcoming announcement.
