Karun Nair Eyes Remarkable Comeback to Test Cricket

Karun Nair is on the brink of a significant comeback, gearing up to return to Test cricket after an eight-year hiatus. He is expected to play in the upcoming series against England.

Nair made his Test debut in 2016 and quickly made headlines by scoring an impressive 300 runs in Chennai. However, he struggled to maintain a permanent spot in the team, with his last match being against Australia in Dharamsala back in 2017.

Recently, Nair’s consistent performances at the domestic level, coupled with the retirements of prominent players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have paved the way for his return. He now finds himself in a strong position to be included in the playing eleven.

In a recent interview with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Nair expressed his eagerness to make a return to the national team. "When I wake up, my first thought is about playing Test cricket again. That desire has kept me motivated and focused on my training. My goal has always been to wear the national jersey once more," he shared.

Finding His Place in the Indian Team

Named in India’s squad for the Test tour of England, the 32-year-old is excited to be back. He admits that seeing his teammates again made him feel truly part of the team. "It felt incredible to wear this jersey and represent my country. The moment I saw everyone, I knew I belonged," Nair said.

He reflected on his past experience when he was part of the squad during the 2018 England tour but didn’t get a chance to play. "Coming back now feels like completing a circle. I left the team in England, and now I’m returning,” he noted.

Embracing the Journey

Looking back on his journey, Nair sees this moment as a significant milestone. "I’ve learned to be more patient and forgiving with myself. I appreciate the little things more now and try to stay true to who I am," he explained.

His positive mindset is evident as he visualizes his goals and believes in his capabilities. During practice matches, he has already demonstrated his form with an impressive double-hundred against the England Lions.

As anticipation builds, cricket fans are eager to see if Karun Nair will find a spot in the starting lineup and what role he will play in this highly anticipated series.
