Jakarta: French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his commitment to a two-state solution for the Israel-Palestinian conflict during a speech in Indonesia on Wednesday. He emphasized that France’s policy towards the Middle East is consistent and fair.
Macron’s comments come as he considers officially recognizing a Palestinian state, a potential move that may cause tension with Israel and highlight divisions among Western nations.
"Only a political solution can bring lasting peace and stability," Macron stated.
He also mentioned plans to collaborate with Saudi Arabia to host a conference in New York focused on Gaza. This meeting aims to advance efforts toward recognizing both a Palestinian state and Israel’s right to exist securely in the region.
