Tragic Incident in Pahalgam: A Survivor’s Heartbreaking Account
In a heart-wrenching tale of loss and terror, Jennifer, the wife of Sushil Nathaniel, shared her shocking experience following the brutal attack that claimed her husband’s life in Pahalgam. Sushil was the only Christian among the 26 victims of the massacre.
After her husband’s funeral, Jennifer recounted the traumatic moments leading up to his death. She revealed that the terrorists, after shooting her husband, took selfies with some of the victims’ bodies. Disturbingly, she added that one of the assailants kicked her to check if she was still alive.
Jennifer recalled the horrifying exchange just moments before Sushil was shot. The attackers, upon discovering his religion, confronted him, asking, "You know about Palestine, right?" This grim question was followed by gunfire, shattering Jennifer’s world.
"At that moment, I felt frozen. I wanted to scream, to rush to him, to hold him close, but my body wouldn’t move. The cold paralyzed me," she said.
"In that terrifying instant, I shut my eyes and held my breath. When one of them kicked me, I didn’t react. I couldn’t, as I was too scared. Just behind Sushil, I could see another body lying against a tree," she shared, reflecting the deep trauma of the incident.
Jennifer’s story serves as a stark reminder of the senseless violence that continues to disrupt lives and assumes devastating shapes across communities.
