Ahmedabad’s Scorching Heat Impacts GT vs DC Match

On Saturday, April 19, the intense heat in Ahmedabad posed challenges for players during the exciting GT vs DC match. With temperatures soaring to a sweltering 41 degrees Celsius at match time, commentators Ravi Shastri and Shubman Gill highlighted the heat’s impact during the toss.

Despite the tough conditions, both teams showcased their skills, putting on an entertaining game for the fans. However, the heat took its toll, with Ishant Sharma becoming the first player to leave the field. The experienced bowler required assistance from the physio and was seen resting on the boundary as the coaching staff tended to him.

As the match progressed, DC’s Axar Patel also faced difficulties due to cramps while batting, needing a brief break to receive treatment from the physios. Prasidh Krishna, who was performing well with the ball, also struggled with cramps and required attention.

Recap of the First Innings

Even amidst the heat, the match featured some thrilling cricket at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Abishek Porel kicked off the innings strongly, scoring 16 runs in the first over against Mohammed Siraj before being dismissed by Arshad Khan.

Karun Nair, stepping in as an opener due to Jake Fraser-McGurk’s absence, teamed up with KL Rahul to add 35 runs, with Rahul taking the lead in scoring. Contributions from Karun, Axar (39 runs), Stubbs (31 runs), and Ashutosh (37 runs) helped DC surpass the 200-run mark, finishing their innings at 203 for 8 after 20 overs.

Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler for GT, claiming four wickets for 41 runs in his four overs.

Stay tuned for more updates on IPL 2025, including match schedules, live scores, and the latest points table for all teams in the league.
