UK Offers Support to Myanmar Following Devastating Earthquake
The UK government has pledged £10 million (around $12.9 million) in humanitarian aid for Myanmar after a severe earthquake struck the country, resulting in the tragic loss of over 1,600 lives and causing extensive destruction.
In a statement, the UK foreign office highlighted that this funding aims to provide essential support to the most affected regions. The assistance will focus on delivering food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to those in need.
Development Minister Jennifer Chapman noted that local partners funded by the UK are already responding to the crisis on the ground. She expressed her heartfelt condolences to the people of Myanmar, emphasizing the UK’s commitment to aiding the nation during this difficult time.
