Actress and singer Sophie Choudry recently voiced her frustration on social media after an alarming hit-and-run incident involving a delivery rider from Swiggy in Mumbai’s Khar West. The event took place on a Friday afternoon and has sparked a wider dialogue about the safety of roads and the responsibilities of delivery workers.

In her tweet, Sophie expressed her anger, stating, “Hey @Swiggy @SwiggyCares, one of your riders has hit my car badly and run away at 1:15 PM right here on my road in Khar West. It’s completely his fault, and it’s absolutely disgusting that he just ran off! I’m a regular Swiggy customer, but is this what your guys do on the road??!!” Her message was direct, addressing both Swiggy and its customer service account, SwiggyCares, raising concerns about the company’s management of its drivers.

Swiggy responded to Sophie’s tweet, saying, “Hello Sophie, we sincerely regret this incident and understand how distressing it must be. Safety and accountability are of utmost importance to us.” However, there have been no further updates from either Sophie or the delivery service regarding the situation.

The incident also triggered various reactions from social media users. One person noted the pressures that delivery partners face with time constraints, emphasizing that while such pressures exist, it does not excuse dangerous driving. Another user remarked, “I know it’s his fault, but at least don’t ask the Swiggy guy to fix your car.”

This incident has highlighted the ongoing challenge of road safety and accountability for gig economy workers, raising important questions that resonate with many people in similar situations.
