In recent years, the cost of going to the movies has soared, making it less affordable for many. Despite protests from movie fans, ticket prices have continued to rise. However, there’s good news on the horizon for film lovers.

Next week, audiences will have the opportunity to see new releases at much lower prices. Distributors for the upcoming films Badass Ravi Kumar and Loveyapa have instructed cinemas across the country to set ticket prices at no more than Rs. 150.

According to a trade source, AA Films, which is distributing Badass Ravi Kumar, has sent emails to theaters stating that over the weekend from February 7 to 9, tickets should be priced flat at Rs. 150, including taxes. Meanwhile, Zee Studios, releasing Loveyapa, has set ticket prices between Rs. 99 and Rs. 150 for regular seats throughout the week.

The pricing strategy is also tailored for different types of cinemas. For non-premium theaters, tickets should ideally be around Rs. 99, while premium venues can charge up to Rs. 149. However, in Gujarat and Goa, the minimum ticket price is set at Rs. 149.

It remains to be seen if major cinema chains will follow this pricing guide. In Mumbai, ticket bookings for Badass Ravi Kumar have already begun, but not all theaters are complying with this plan. Despite this, most cinemas are expected to adopt the new pricing strategy.

An industry insider believes that both films appeal strongly to young audiences. Lower ticket prices may encourage more viewers to head to the theaters. Last year, films like Laapataa Ladies and Munjya experienced success when tickets were priced at Rs. 150 starting in their second week.

Badass Ravi Kumar stars Himesh Reshammiya, while Loveyapa features Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor in leading roles. This significant price reduction could breathe new life into cinema attendance and make moviegoing enjoyable again for all.
