Consulate General of India Celebrates Achievements of Indian Diaspora in New York

New York, January 26, 2025 — The Consulate General of India in New York marked the 76th Republic Day of India by honoring a group of distinguished leaders from the Indian diaspora. These individuals have made impressive contributions in various areas, including public service, the arts, technology, and cultural preservation.

One of the highlights of the event was the recognition of Manoj Chourasia, a State Representative from Nashua, New Hampshire. He was celebrated for his dedication to the Indian American community and his recent success in being elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

Other notable figures honored at the event included Kris Singh, an Administrative Judge for the 4th Judicial District in New York; Rena Malik, a Justice at the New York City Civil Court; and John Guy, the Curator of South and Southeast Asian Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The list of honorees also featured Jonathan Hollander, founder of Battery Dance Company, and Dr. Ashok Chaudhury from the Indian Heritage and Cultural Organization-NJ, along with Mangesh Kamat, who represents the Mallakhambh Association of USA.

The Consulate’s official social media account also recognized several other achievers, such as youngest Grandmaster Abhimany Mishra, lawyer Sabina Dhillon, and technology entrepreneurs Raj Lulla and Namin Shah, among others.

The Consulate expressed appreciation to the honorees for their contributions, stating, “We thank them for joining us and accepting this honor. We hope they continue to inspire and make significant impacts, enriching both their communities and the world around them.”

Manoj Chourasia, an IT professional with over 30 years of experience, has been a resident of Nashua since 2002. He’s been an active community leader for more than two decades and currently holds the position of Vice President of the India Association of New Hampshire. His work includes various local charitable efforts, and he is committed to boosting economic growth as a member of the Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee in New Hampshire.

"What a privilege it is to be honored by the Consulate General of India, New York," Chourasia remarked, sharing his pride in being celebrated alongside such accomplished individuals.
