Netflix has introduced the first look of its new romantic comedy series, The Royals, featuring the talented Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar. Set in India’s luxurious royal world, the show promises an intriguing mix of traditional charm and the fast-paced nature of modern business.
The Royals tells the story of Aviraaj Singh, portrayed by Ishaan Khatter, a laid-back heir to the royal throne of Morpur who enjoys polo. On the other hand, Bhumi Pednekar plays Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, a determined CEO of a rising luxury homestay startup. Their lives intertwine when they must join forces—Aviraaj strives to rescue his family’s waning finances, while Sophia aims to shield her business from demanding investors. As they face their contrasting worlds, their relationship becomes filled with fiery exchanges and undeniable chemistry.
The creators, Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy, shared their enthusiasm for this delightful mix of romance and the realities of modern India. They expressed, “The Royals represents our fresh collaboration with Netflix, merging coming-of-age narratives, Gen Z stories, and playful fun. It’s a classic story of a prince and a commoner, where sparks fly amid clashes. It has been exciting for us to create and produce this tale, and we are thrilled to bring it to a global audience with Netflix.”
Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, The Royals is a lighthearted rom-com that fuses old-world elegance with contemporary ambition. In addition to Ishaan and Bhumi, the series boasts a talented cast including Sakshi Tanwar, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, Dino Morea, and Chunky Panday, among others.
Stay tuned for more updates as The Royals promises to be an entertaining watch!
