A 12-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the tragic death of 80-year-old Bhim Sen Kohli, who lost his life after being attacked while walking his dog in a park near Leicester in September. This incident has garnered significant attention due to its unfortunate circumstances.

According to Leicestershire Police, the girl, whose identity has not been disclosed for legal reasons, appeared at Leicester Youth Court to face a manslaughter charge. In a related case, a 15-year-old boy, who was 14 at the time of the incident, has already been charged with murder and remains in custody.

Police confirmed the girl’s charges, stating, “A 12-year-old girl has been charged following the death of Bhim Kohli in September.” Initially, five children aged between 12 and 14 were arrested after Mr. Kohli passed away in the hospital on September 2.

Mr. Kohli’s family issued a heartfelt statement expressing their grief, describing him as a loving husband, father, granddad, and a cherished family member. They shared how much he adored his grandchildren and how family was at the center of his life.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Mr. Kohli died due to a neck injury sustained during the attack at Franklin Park in Braunstone Town, and further tests were to follow.

Detective Inspector Emma Matts, who is overseeing the investigation at Leicestershire Police, remarked on the heartbreaking nature of Mr. Kohli’s death, noting how it has affected not only his loved ones but also the broader community.
