In a major boost for Indian cricket fans, Jasprit Bumrah has eased concerns over his fitness as he practiced vigorously in the nets before the Brisbane Test scheduled for Thursday, December 12. Bumrah has been exceptional in the current series, spearheading the bowling attack and helping India secure a significant victory in Perth. Even during the challenging Adelaide Test, where India faced defeat, he managed to claim four wickets.
There was a moment of anxiety among fans during the pink-ball Test when Bumrah appeared to struggle on the field, prompting medical staff to check on him. Although it seemed to be just cramps, there was speculation from former Australian bowler Damien Fleming about the potential seriousness of the situation. In the subsequent practice session in Adelaide on December 10, Bumrah did not bowl.
Now, however, he is back and performing at his best in the nets. Australian journalist Bharat Sundaresan reported that he started his practice with a few leg-break deliveries alongside R. Ashwin before switching back to his takeoff pace.
During the net session, Bumrah bowled fiercely, challenging the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. Sundaresan noted that Bumrah was giving both batsmen a tough time.
### Bumrah’s Performance in the Series So Far
Currently, Bumrah is at the top of the wicket-takers list in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, securing 12 wickets in just two matches with an impressive average of 11.25. He is also the leading wicket-taker in Test matches for 2024, with a total of 53 wickets under his belt. He will be eager to increase this tally in the upcoming Brisbane Test, which begins on December 14.
