Harbhajan Singh Calls for Resolution in Head-Siraj Dispute: Time to Move On

Harbhajan Singh believes that the recent sanctions imposed by the ICC will help put an end to the ongoing conflict between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj that flared up during the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. The situation escalated on Day 2 of the match when Siraj celebrated animatedly after dismissing Head for 140 runs, leading to boos from the crowd aimed at the Indian bowler.

Both players shared their sides of the story during the match, and it appeared they had reconciled while Siraj was at the crease in the second innings. However, on December 9, the ICC announced sanctions for both players, fining Siraj 20% of his match fees.

In an interview with Star Sports, Harbhajan expressed his view that the ICC was being too harsh on the players, pointing out that such incidents are part of the game. He emphasized that with both players having made amends and the ICC taking action, it was time to move on and concentrate on the upcoming match at the Gabba.

“I think the ICC is a bit too strict on players. These things happen on the field. Now that they’ve settled their differences, it’s time to put this behind us and focus on the next match in Brisbane. We need to concentrate on cricket rather than controversies. Enough is enough,” Harbhajan said.

Piyush Chawla also shared his thoughts, agreeing with Harbhajan’s perspective. He acknowledged that tensions could rise again in Brisbane but felt it was best to leave the Head-Siraj issue in Adelaide.

“It’s hard to say who was right or wrong in this situation. Personally, I believe we should end this discussion now and not carry it over to the next match or the fourth Test. Things might get heated again, but let’s keep this incident in Adelaide,” Chawla explained.

The third Test between Australia and India is set to start on December 14 at the Gabba.
