Rajkumar Hirani, a name synonymous with heartfelt storytelling, is poised to embark on his next directorial journey. Fresh off the celebrated release of Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan almost a year ago, Hirani is gearing up to roll the cameras for a new slice-of-life film destined for a prominent OTT platform. What sets this project apart is its personal resonance—it marks the debut of his son, Vir Hirani.
A source, as reported by Mid-Day, shed light on this venture, stating, “This film is a tapestry of the heartwarming and socially conscious narratives that Hirani masterfully weaves. With his distinctive flair, it promises to be a humorous yet poignant offering that taps into universal themes. The character that Vir embodies will strike a chord with the youth, making this debut a fitting canvas for him to shine.”
Vir, a proud alumnus of the illustrious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), has already graced the stage, delivering a powerful performance in Letters from Suresh, a production helmed by Feroz Abbas Khan. His ability to command attention during a formidable 35-minute monologue earned him accolades and showcased his undeniable talent.
The father-son duo has dedicated considerable effort to perfecting the script and navigating the pre-production landscape. “While Rajkumar ensures every detail is impeccably executed, Vir’s involvement is profound. They aim for this journey to be significant for both. With Vir coming from a background steeped in theater, particularly after his success in Letters from Suresh, his foundational experiences have prepared him well,” the insider elaborated.
In parallel, Hirani is setting the wheels in motion for another exciting project. Actor Arshad Warsi will once again collaborate with the acclaimed Munna Bhai director in an eagerly anticipated OTT series. Tentatively titled Pritam Pedro, this cyber-crime thriller will also feature Vikrant Massey in a leading role. Marking a new chapter in his career, Hirani is stepping into the realm of digital content as both showrunner and producer, while his assistant director, Amir Satyaveer Singh, will take on directing duties.
As the release of these projects approaches, the buzz in the air is palpable, promising audiences a blend of compelling narratives and fresh talent that Hirani is renowned for.
